Best Burapha School Pattaya – Updated

The comment below was added today to my previous thread about Best Burapha School and I felt it was well worth bringing to the fore.

I would stress this is not my post but a comment added by another individual.

I have just removed my daughter from BEST as the school year has just finished. In addition to the stories mentioned here you can also read others on various websites and blogs by simply doing a Google search for Best Burapha School. So many concerned parents cannot be coincidence or mistaken. My daughter was never smacked but she did tell us it was a common occurrence, usually for getting homework wrong, and always from Thai teachers. We did however have first hand experience of a (Thai) teacher drinking alcohol in the classroom.

The final straw was the huge hike in fees at the end of the year. As she was moving up a level too the fees went from 55,000 a year to 105,000 a year. Her class had 24 pupils and only 6 are returning next year due to this. If that figure of 75% departing is across the board they have clearly shot themselves in the foot badly.

Of the 18 leaving 10 applied to Maryvit and only 2 managed to pass the entrance exam. That is not conclusive in any way but does say a lot to me. The only entrance criteria BEST ever applied was an ability to pay.

Thanks for your comments. I had been recommended to B.E.S.T School by a friend. My daughter is currently at Marivhit and has been there for two years. I’m looking for a school that will teach her English to a good standard as well as Thai but after reading your posting, I certainly won’t be sending her there.

    for David

The Thai teachers at BEST still continue to beat children. The senior farang teachers still try to stop them but the (Thai) director still condones it and refuses to take action.

FYI Maryvit is also a well known “caning” school but they do it behind closed doors in a punishment room.

  3. One of the student in school says:

Well, our school still have some positive sides.

  4. Admin1 says:

Your comment seems to be an admission that teachers are STILL breaking the law at BEST Burapha. This is three years after we reported it and 6 years after it was made illegal. Can you confirm this?

I know many parents are OK with teachers hitting children but NO parent should ever be OK with criminals teaching their kids! If teachers hit children that is what they are.

  5. Student. says:

I am sorry to say this but that isn’t true about the school fees and all.

I am one of the high school students in BEST and I would like to say I disagree with all the things that was written here.

At all levels, students learn using up-to-date and authentic teaching materials sourced from major educational publishers around the world, such as Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Marshall Cavendish and Nelson Thornes.

After when we finally leave Secondary Six, school expect us to have acheived a minimum of five passes in Cambridge IGCSE examination subjects, and to be ready to pursue higher education in our chosen fields, either at universities in Thailand, or at sixth form college or university abroad.

Please don’t tell lies and all the bad things about our school.

    sincerely.

  6. Admin1 says:

You are entitled to your opinion but remember those comments were written 3 years ago. Maybe things have changed? Have teachers stopped hitting kids? I doubt it.

  7. Student. says:

Yes I know that this was written 3 years ago and yes there’s no more hitting kids since 3 years before i believe.

and I really disagree with ‘teacher drinking alcohol in the classroom’ was that a made up story? because I’ve been studying in this school since K.1 and it’s been 13 years now and never ever heard about that…

This website is just making a bad-look for our school although it was written 3 years ago.
